Webservatory® Astro Bric Stack

Astronomy Framework

Webservatory® is built on our modular Astro Bric Stack – a flexible and scalable software platform for controlling and managing astronomical systems. It enables seamless integration and centralized control of various telescopes and instruments, regardless of their location or manufacturer. Thanks to its open architecture, existing systems can be efficiently integrated, automated, and optimized.

Key Features

Universal Abstraction Layer

Our universal abstraction layer standardizes control across a wide range of hardware components – ensuring seamless integration, simplified configuration, and consistent performance regardless of manufacturer or device type.

Decoupled Architecture

Our modular, decoupled system architecture allows you to replace or upgrade individual components without compromising overall system integrity – ensuring long-term flexibility and maintainability.

Comprehensive API Access

Gain full programmatic control with our well-documented API – enabling seamless integration, automation, and customization across all system components. Ideal for advanced workflows and enterprise-scale deployments.

Enterprise Support

We provide dedicated enterprise support to ensure smooth integration into your existing infrastructure – offering expert guidance, customization, and long-term reliability for mission-critical operations.

Flexible, dynamic and practical

Our Astro Bric Stack Framework can be extended by means of own components – thus we offer science a dynamic, constantly growing platform. For example, a large number of components for the control of telescopes, their connected devices as well as evaluation possibilities are already available.

API & Scripting Support

Automate and customize every aspect of your workflow with robust API and scripting support. From scheduling observations to processing data, our system gives you full programmatic control for seamless integration into your existing infrastructure.

Sample Applications

Imaging and Photometrie

Perform sequence-controlled direct imaging using photometric standard filters (UBVRI) or narrowband filters such as Hα and OIII. Conduct photometry of variable stars or star clusters, and generate light curves of exoplanet transits or active galactic nuclei (AGN) variability.

Lucky Imaging

Our software enables the acquisition of high-resolution datasets of planets, double stars, planetary nebulae, and globular clusters through high-speed imaging sequences with millisecond exposures. By freezing atmospheric turbulence, this technique minimizes the effects of seeing and supports advanced post-processing methods such as lucky imaging or speckle reconstruction. The resulting data is ideal for detailed structural analyses and long-term monitoring in professional research contexts.

Complete Turnkey Observatory Solution

Webservatory® ABS  is part of our comprehensive, turnkey observatory solution designed to meet the needs of research institutions, universities, and public observatories. From telescope control and real-time imaging to data acquisition, processing, and educational outreach, our integrated software suite streamlines the full observational workflow. Whether for remote operation, automated scheduling, or advanced photometric analysis, the system is fully scalable and ready for immediate deployment.

Fully decentralized architecture

A fully decentralized architecture ensures that every component –hardware command, compute and storage – can operate independently for maximum flexibility. This design allows seamless scaling, whether adding compute power for higher data rates or expanding storage for growing mission needs. With no single point of failure, the system delivers higher reliability and resilience, keeping observatory operations stable and efficient. Scalable, adaptable, and future-ready, decentralized ground stations provide a smarter, more cost-effective solution for next-generation space applications.

For smaller installations, running the entire system on a single PC is also possible.

Some Projects

Successful deployment at our customer DLR

At DLR our headless platform for satellite tracking is in use. In addition to the application of common processes in satellite tracking, such as TLE and CPF processing, EMS data of the CCSDS standard is also supported here and can be applied “on the fly”.

German Armed Forces’ space surveillance project

As part of this significant project, which involves the installation of cutting-edge observation systems for space monitoring, sciencentric® AG provides the advanced software platform for the seamless integration and fully automated operation of the telescope systems…
